Jane’s highlighted ATAK’s integration with F-Pano, a fused, panoramic NVG from L3 Technologies (A Licensee), which was demonstrated at SOFIC:
L3 Technologies launched a new variant of its Ground Panoramic Night Vision Goggles (GPNVGs) at the 2019 SOFIC, which was held in Florida from 20 to 23 May.
The Fused GPNVG (F-Pano) solution, which also features four image intensification (I2) tubes, has been enhanced with an integrated fused infrared (IR) overlay; augmented reality (AR) capability; and wireless connectivity to enhance the “situation awareness, mobility, targeting, and lethality” of the US special operations forces.
Following the development of the original GPNVG design, which is in service with special operations forces across the ‘Five Eyes’ community, the F-Pano provides operators with a wide field-of-view (FOV) of 97°, which compares favourably to the 40° FOVs provided by current binocular night-vision devices.
The F-Pano can be networked to command-and-control (C2) systems including the US Special Operations Command’s (USSOCOM’s) Android Tactical Assault Kit (ATAK); as well as AR software, which enables end users to benefit from overlaid iconography into the head-up display.
