This press release from GoTAK announces that the Malaysian Air Force SOF-PASKU has adopted TAK and that GoTAK is supporting TaaS (TAK as a Service), with GoTAK providing the expertise, integration and training under the control and direction of the Malaysian Air Force.
This provides the United States with the ability to collaborate and interoperate seamlessly with a significant strategic partner with a long-standing comprehensive partnership, while allowing each party to maintain secure custody and jurisdiction over their respective operations and data.
It also provides commercial industry — in this case GoTAK — the ability to support customers that the US Government can’t effectively do quickly/easily, while making a fair profit for their work, while allowing the partner country to grow into becoming a full Foreign Military Sales partner with the United States Government at a later time if the see the value in doing so.
This is one of the models that TAK was originally licensed, and this is exactly the sort of outcome that I had hoped for when we started the TAK program in 2010.
